training. we actually have an acu1,000 type capability in pendleton and that is a piece of equipment that bee don't train with routinely the expeditionary folks. i think there is an opportunity in training, it's great when marines get to see the gear and do that type of cross banding we spoke about. civilian authority operates in 700-800 megahertz range. we know fires happen a lot and we're often asked to support so training is a big recommendation i make. >> what i'd recommend is practice makes perfect and flexibility is required. so with communications being flex i will and you have to practice. we did some training events with the acu's in order to teach other agencies how to cross band the radios but it continues to grow. next year there will be a new version of the acu's, which does cross banding of radios. as long as we stay engaged we keep communicating and we keep working to the and keep the lines of communication open, i think the exercise will go excellent as we grow. >> i told my boss that communication's at the heart of everything. the stronger we are with our co

into this country. i was a young attorney in southern california. i remember going down to camp pendleton with other attorneys and volunteering our time to teach those in the refugee community, and that was one of the places that they first came in california, to camp pendleton, before they then found sponsors and came to other parts of our country and the state, giving them -- giving them simple instructions in the law. in the way the courts worked. in what your rights were. fairly elementary but nonetheless necessary. and it was -- it inhe will i believey impressed -- it in dellably impressed on me that some of the things we do in our system aren't immediate apparent and people from different backgrounds, different cultures, different countries may not appreciate it and if they are coming here, one of the great things about this country is assimilation. and so that's why i would require a study of civil institutions and our governmental structure for those individuals. next, people talk about a particular find and i don't know what that number would be but i understand that to be appropriate. now

posttraumatic stress at all the major bases, fort reilly, fort hood, fort bragg, catch pendleton, which will address these issues and help those suicide rates come down. >> rick: what specifically can you do in these facilities that can make a difference? >> these are tremendous amounts because we have the nico facility we built. $65 million, 100% of every penny goes to this effort. the doctors that have been operating that center have helped hundreds of families avoid suicide, avoid domestic violence, avoid the problems that come along with mental health illness. you're 19 to 24 years old, you served your country well. you come home. we ought to love on you and give that you support that you deserve. a lot of the guys that lost their legs or arms or things lee like that have said i'd rather have done that than lose my brain. so these are the unseen wounds of war that we're trying to help. >> rick: we often -- you often walk down the street and you see people who are missing limbs and you know they're a young guy and you know it's because of something that just happened to them in war.
